Over the next two years, Gartner predicts that more than half of medium and large enterprises will adopt Low-Code, No-Code application platforms. Low-Code, No-Code platforms promise to accelerate digital transformation initiatives and gain popularity as companies seek to streamline workflow and digitize business processes .

TechRepublic Premium surveyed 414 people from a variety of sectors, company sizes, industries and functions, to find out how their organizations are using Low-Code, No-Code platforms or why they are not. use them and their thoughts on future developer employability.

Most study respondents said they use Low-Code, No-Code platforms to automate workflows (17%), create new apps (15%), speed up development time (15%), and automate data collection and reporting (14%). Nearly 10% of respondents said they implement platforms to ease the burden on developers, connecting and creating apps.

What about developers?

Majority of respondents (67%) do not believe that Low-Code, No-Code platforms will lead to reduced developer work. But 16% agree. The reasons given are: Developers are too slow to help the company respond to rapidly changing market conditions and opportunities and developers will feel undervalued and quit their jobs. instead of working on these platforms.

For some developers, these platforms are a welcome solution to save time and focus their efforts on other projects with higher added value. On the other hand, others fear that Low-Code, No-Code platforms lead to fewer jobs for skilled developers.

Therefore, we must find the "combination" among developers, argues Thierry Ormancey. “You need people with business processes and process coordination. They have to understand the business need and be able to translate it into an app,” he explains.

Thierry Ormancey commented that one of the big benefits for developers is "access to other types of functionality, such as AI, without being a data scientist". Likewise, Low-Code, No-Code is also beneficial in terms of maintenance, experts commented. "The fact that we're working with objects and there's no cumbersome code makes it easier to maintain, because we'll do object versioning, we'll come back and we I know where I have to act. We don't have to look in 10,000 lines of code, we go directly to where we care and we make the changes."
